Get Back to Long Beach One of the reasons why I liked Margaret was the longer I knew her, the more I realized we were two lost souls with much in common; I met her after I had moved from Moreno Valley back to Long Beach awhile after my wife told me to move out because she wanted a divorce, this wasn't totally a surprise to me, as it seemed like my entire married life she had complained to me about one thing or another she didn't like about me, and then it happened, I didn't want it to happen but she did, and the Judge gave her what she wanted. The Judge said, if one person didn't want to be married anymore it was over. I'll always wish I had done better. So eventually I moved back to Long Beach and it just so happened, when I was hurting immensely I met Margaret, and after I met her I was surprised to learn that she seemed to be suffering more than me, this amazed me because I didn't think anyone in the whole wide world was suffering more than me. I suppose at that time, in the middle of my suffering, I needed to look inside of myself and take note that I wasn't the only one that had suffered a divorce, it seems Margaret had suffered the same, she had been married to a successful orthopedic surgeon that had met a younger woman at work and he divorced Margaret for a new life with the younger woman. Margaret was not taking this so well, I'm not sure how it was working out for him, but for her it was devastating, and soon me and Margaret became close friends in trajedy. Well then James, I too lived in Long Beach in 1971&2. I was a partner in an AAmco Transmissions shop located at 1629 Long Beach Blvd, next door to a barber college. I can't even recognize the boulevard any more on the "street view", but the Queen Mary was berthed already, though the Cousteau Museum was the only available attraction as I recall. I used to fly over it and the nearby Hancock oil tanks had smiles painted on their tops, a bit before the 'smilies' became popular. Loving Linny Jean is poetry. |

"Love!" Spreads more misery than anything else in the world. That's my take on love. Still, we try and try again . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
