Autumn's Embers I remember... In the afterglow of seasonal rebirth framed by the color of the trees, rivers and the dirt somewhere in the contrast of gold on sky blue I thought I saw you up along those San Jaun ridges laying out your carpets of flame burning summer's bridges braiding your October mane yeah I thought I saw you tossing your Van Gogh seeds of gilded September stirring in my heart love's imperfections as art autumn's embers In the undertow of autumnal return tuned to the tonal inflection of hours left to burn like candles in the window on Halloween I thought you saw me falling into love like a pile of leaves on cold-scented mornings I awaken to perceive your October ways and means yeah I thought I saw you braiding your Monet hair as red as rusted November soulful from the start love's insanity as art autumn's embers Stirring in my heart love's promises as art autumn's embers I still remember... I dearly loved this poem of reflection. Each line lent more to the poem than usual. Your wordplay was magnificent! ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
