Taking a Break

keep threatening that Lady
who pretends to be me.
She is not as efficient as She used to be.
She cooked and baked so sufficiently.
When receiving a phone message
saying guest would arrive,

She would whip up a meal and then bake a cake.
She passed over the praise with an

"oh it's not much."

But the praises she heard were clear and quite loud.
And deep down insideshe felt mighty proud.
Those days are now gone, and I really don't care.

Now it's time to relax,

say good bye to the cook

smile politely, and pick up a book.

Taking a break is not profanity. jp

NOT profanity at all, my friend.  You deserve it.  And I think I work harder now then I did when I was "working" (and I worked pretty hard then!).

As for books - I'm really deep into some truly awesome books now-a-days . . . ZOMBIES!!!

Always enjoy you . . .

I find myself wondering how I managed to do all that I did back then but now as I too take my break I'm glad that I did it.

Well said, Jo, and enjoy (as I know you are) every moment of your break.

I'll say, a great way to find peace, as well!
Thanks for sharing, Taking a Break!

I have known only a few like you Lady latearrival, who made meals from scratch and could seemingly do it in the blink of an eye. There is still some magic in this world and women like you are and have been its most prominent purveyors. Many blessings to you.

More feelings and fewer words please

Dear Martyjo, you say it so well and I think many of us elderly ladies can relate. As you know this is a tough time for me and I feel kind of guilty for not being able to do many things I did before, but then I just did what you suggest here. I am reading books, which is also a way to not concentrate on pain. I will think of you when going to bed and opening my current book. Have a good time, dear friend.

Love and hugs.

Thank you and "Welcom to the blue pages"
Ari Squire.I hope you enjoy your time here.

Margherita, So glad you are resting and healing.I read the poem  to my son and he laughed as he remembers it well. But at my age I do enough. He is a great help, does my grocery shopping and I in turn wash his clothes. We mesh well. Life goes on and all we have to do is keep smiling and share a bit of sunshine. love to you, Jo
