my position in this moment is mine to enjoy or not I have undergone much drama to fulfill my destiny drama of my own making perhaps but surely there were some which bore not my signature as old as I am and I am old I have not been a sickly specimen visiting the hospital visit after visit still . . . miracle drugs have given me mainstaibility my body has not been broken my face has not been maimed I've not lost limbs in the wreckage of automobiles my brain though dysfunctional by some standards has stayed the course throughout riches have not found me I have not sought them out not really sought them out this hovel I live it is neither my rightful place neither is it my doom it just is so! living on borrowed time as they say knowing the next breath could be my last I understand life more now near the end than ever before I live for the beat of poetry for the unstructured lines that I write oh, there is much I understand still, there is more I wish to know I want to know why men fight wars no not true I understand the pettiness of war of man's overwhelming desire to push his way onto others I want to know why men are cruel to others because they speak a different language or look different no I understand the Biblical thought of the Tower of Babel scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth I understand it but I don't comprehend it my race has not been run neither yours nor theirs we run the race for we can do no other we cannot pick out whether we should be who we are or be who we are not if we are rich if we are poor if we have fame if we are a nobody if we can alter our course in life if we cannot whoever we are inside we will always be ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote: You are truly blessed to have this passion to write and also the desire to know more. This attitude and your creativity make you young inside. I also like your ending lines ... I am, we are ... who we are. We are children of eternity, learning to love each other. That's why you wonder why cruelty in human relationships still goes on ... there are life lessons that we all need to repeat until we will be able to love unconditionally. Always you offer food for thought, dear Jerry. Just as you do here with this excellent stream of consciousness. Margherita |

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poetry here JerryPat. Your own ideas about yourself, your perspectives, all give the reader something to relate to. That is what I look for in every read but seldom find, until I switch channels to the 'Southern Lou Network'. You 'sound' great pal and that pleases me a great deal. Keep on thinking free, and take along some 88's to snack on along your many and varied paths! She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

Ahhh . . . I'm taking the eighty-eights Ticklefingers, my good friend. Isn't it amazing how we can say "good friend," and mean it even though we have never sat eyes on each other? Eh, I feel that, however about you and a few poets on PiP. As always, thank you! ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

I really like this Jerrypat because it tells me a lot more about you. If you are older then you write like a real smart young guy. So you can be a real smart young guy or a wise old man! Either way I like you and your poems! Don't leave here anymore! If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time. |

" ... miracle drugs have given me mainstaibility my body has not been broken my face has not been maimed I've not lost limbs in the wreckage of automobiles my brain though dysfunctional by some standards has stayed the course throughout ... " Oh, my friend how well I understand these words as I live(?) with a chronic illness. Yet, we must live on to the best of our abilities. Kudos for this wonderful piece of writing, Marti "Faith is taking the first step |
