The leash undone and free to run Leaping bounding paws a’ pounding, Watch me master, faster, faster Now I’m going for all I’m worth Skimming over the sweet, sweet earth ~ Down, down the winding lane To the jingling of my collar chain Wriggling under the old farm gate To freedom fields where joy awaits Dewy grass and poppy flowers Where I can run for hours and hours ~ Now at your feet, curled in rest Snuggled warmth by fireside blessed I lift my trusting eyes to you Oh master if you only knew And if my thoughts I could convey The love I feel for you this day Done a poem for the Cat so this is one for the dog lovers. |

My dogs run free on my land where I am now, but the dogs of my youth had to be registered and inoculated for rabies. We always left the old metallic tags on their collars both for the "jingle" and the colors which were different each year. Good poetry many will relate to. She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

I sure relate! I've had dogs all my life. They are in my life completely. Now I have Zoe, half Yorkie, half Schnauzer . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Very lovely tribute to the dog, Cari. I have never had a dog, but I do love them nonetheless and I do understand how deep this bond can be. Margherita |

Cari - I love the craft of your story. Nicely done. Kinda gives me a warm fuzzy feeling all over. Thanks Cari. Namyh |
