oh those years behind us murmurs to us in these days of old we were merry pranksters born of women this child and dared to grow from acid rock we had our dreams ahhh . . . not understanding what the passing years meant we assumed they would lust without end eh . . . it is the tinge of our thoughts where we really had no plan just rode that acid rock like a tempest hard driving even now near the end we still hearken back to what was then listen to the oldies rock station and revisit yesterday’s righteous , soul-cleansing rock acid rock thinking of Woodstock as we hobble along using our walkers nodding our heads to the beat of yesterday ©April 23, 2015 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

I don't use a walker yet, Jerry, but can relate a lot to the words of this poem.. Many are in these situations.. Thanks for the poem "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." |

Well, I hope that is the way it works out for me when I get to that point. Now this generation here probably won't bob their heads, they'll twerk instead! |

Eh . . . I'm not on the walker yet either, Ice, not too far from it I don't imagine, but then I might have something to say about that. Thank you for response to my poem. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Hah! Lori, you mostly always put a smile on my face, today is no different. Thanks, my friend. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote: "Soul-cleansing rock", now that's an affirmation, dear Jerry! In those times parents thought it was the devil's music, but wasn't it just a way to feel enthusiastic and to recharge our batteries after the challenges of life! Great flash-back ... and let's hope that when we can't dance anymore we can still enjoy the rhythm in our head ... so that the synapses go on training, keeping us fit! Margherita |

Ahhh, Margarita, what a lovely response to my poem. There were some pretty rough language in some of the acid rock, but, you are correct, on the whole it was simply a way to unwind. Thank you. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Oh man, I am feeling quite nostalgic tonight. You took me back JP. Who knew that time in our lives would have us reflecting in such a way that we are here writing and reading poetry of those magical days gone by. Kudos good poet, Sir. |

...and the beat goes on! Just like they always said it would. In the spirit of the times (and the vernacular), 'groovy post man...'! Far out! You'll have to excuse me now JerryPat, but I must get my chrome plated bed pan ready! 88's pal! She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

I was so busy taking care of two babies during those years that I didn't get into that scene as much as most of those my age. |

Ahhh . . . Ida, you were taking care of the real feeling and giving complete love to your babies instead of marching and chanting "Love Power." You were doing what you were supposed to. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
