She wishes the moving would lead somewhere
but it doesn’t, not ever, no, not ere
but she trundles along like gypsies do
to simply end up where she’s been before.

Now this gypsy not clever to count the cost
of having to do everything twice
but bound as she is by some strange decree
she surrenders up unto her plight.

Now her wagon must hold more than before
because baggage mounts up each passing year
but her wagon grown old can’t cope with the load
and so she must enter “select memory” mode.

Now she shifts and sorts; what not to keep
to enable the love to remain undisturbed
and caught in this stage she’s a gypsy in red
as if the discarding has bled on her dress.

Now gypsies would choose to follow the river
but a drought has o’er laid the land
so off she goes in her red dress
knowing that soon the river will flow.

And then she’ll dive in dressed as she is
and wash off the stain of unhappiness
and appear like a woman born anew
into a world not known before.

And in that world she won’t do again
what she has done before
and yet there are tears threatening to fall
for the one thing she didn’t repeat.

Now that gypsy knows well that now’s not then
and nothing will be the same again
so dance with her please under the stars
and tell her she’s lovely when free of the past!

Thanks, Jerry.  Yes, it is but I guess we just have to put our minds to it.

Ok, dear Helen, I am ready to dance with you under the stars and we shall shake off the pain related to the past! It's a deal!

And somewhere you affirmed that you are not a Poet! Wrong! This is proof of the contrary.

Begin repeating the one thing that counts for your wellbeing: love yourself and love life. The rest will come as a due consequence.

My word!

Love and hugs, Poetess.

Thank you, dear Margherita.  You've got a deal!  And thank you for thinking I'm a poetess but I don't think I'll ever think I'm that.  Story teller perhaps.  Trouble is that a lot of the stories are true. I do know, however, that everything passes and this situation I find myself in will also pass.  It's the waiting that's hard and so I turn to "the word" in the hopes that writing it out helps.  Meanwhile, where did I put my dancing shoes!

Do hope you're keeping well.  Lots of love.

Well, I understand, dear Helen!

Hey, let's dance barefoot under the stars, much more fun! Right now I can only imagine to do this though ... some hip pain limits me! But this too will pass!!

Hugs.

Yes, I know about hip and back pain but we're gonna do it however we can.  So sorry to hear of your limitations and hope there'll be some relief soon.  I imagine mine gone but I think they're too happy where they are to venture into unknown pastures.  xx

Your poetry evokes sadness and dreams that didn't come true, but it also hopeful as long as you're still dancing. God forbid we miss the dance, you know.

Good to read you again, honey girl.

Honey I'm with you and Margherita. Let's wrap  ourselves in gypsy scarves and dance barefoot on A rainbow. I can think of others who would love to join us. Happiness is not a promise so we have to make our own supply.
Love to you, Jo

Thank you, Bluesy gal!  So nice to know that something from the old days is a constant.  Hope you are keeping well.  Yes, the rain will come and the river will flow.  It's the cycle of life.  I do not intend to miss the dance but I guess things worth having are worth waiting for.

Jo, Thank you so much. I do not tolerate the heat well so a scarf is out for me but, hey, I'll wave it in the breeze next to that river that will flow fulsome and free down to the sea where it may not be seen but sure as hell will "feel".

The "things" that tie us to this earth seem to
grow like vines around our hearts and the hearts of loved ones. You knocked it out of the park with this one, Helen.

Thank you, Ida.  You are right about things tying us to the earth but I hope when it's my time to go "home" I'll be ready and willing.
