My youth has left me, this I know, The wrinkles in my face, Tell-tale wattle for all to see, Yes, youth from me did flee. I had made peace with my old age, Youth quenched, I said so what? I've lived my life both bold and wild, And did it with a strut. I actually had resigned myself to it, Then you appeared to me, You brought to me your own dark clouds, I still had mine, that's the key. Now who says "old age" can't have lustful thoughts..It's not the very young who has monopoly for it..Great to read this. [been away, haven't caught up with you poets here...been missing this] |
