Heartsleeve saw him walk in She gave her cat's canary grin as she studied him to the bar He didn't get far before he felt those eyes like butterflies drawn to nectar How long would it take her he thought and had two drinks bought He wore leather, tattoos and a battle scar leaned up all bad ass against the bar like a statue carved from stone 'cause he never leaves alone She's seen him here before Always walking out the door with a hottie on his arm "So what's the harm" purred her pride as she strutted over to his side She ordered a drink and then gave him her wink He caught the old bartender's eye and said, ”I' ll buy”. And thinking, “damn she was quick!” and, “this one really twists the wick.” He slowly looked her over toe to head her face flushing a cool red when he looked deep in her eyes She felt hot butterflies where ever his eyes grazed her skin She could not begin to pretend he hadn't aroused her Those eyes...her face getting hotter... Finally his eyes let her go ... and she uncurled a toe took a deep breath of air and tried not to stare at his guns or his fly and from embarrassment die (cont’) He couldn't help but grin at the shape that she was in She hadn't grown jaded her fires hadn't faded She made him feel like she was for real Not just style And for a while she might make him feel warm So what's the harm... "So what's the harm..." indeed. I have all of the Heartsleeve poems on a disc. I go back from time to time and reread them. This is one of my favorites . . . er . . . until I read the next one, then it becomes my favorite! ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Jerry, I hadn't realized how many Heartsleeves I did until I did a search. Boy was I surprised! Enough to call it a series. ~L |

Hell yes, it is a series. Bat those blues away and start writing more Heartsleeve poem, publish them in a book. You can do it! ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Oh Jo! A book!? That is a task to daunting for me. I'm lucky to get a poem that laps over to a second page. But thanks for thinking of me! ~L |

Gold from top to bottom love. So many fluid metaphors, it put me in a place I've been to in every place I went to. I fully agree with everyone that has posted their reply. Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

Thank you Mr. Martini! I appreciate the vote of confidence from a new voice. Over the years my poetry has morphed every which a way...it might head this direction again. ~L |
