Bright dark eyes
stir my heart,
silky soft head
warms my lips
and scent of dog
fills me.

Jerry and Jimmy,
I grew up with a beagle. I have had various other dogs throughout my life come and go. I hadn't realized how much I missed having one in my life. Inside dogs don't usually stink unless they have bad breath or they have ear issues. Winston has really become my lovey.
I can't seem to help myself (I know I shouldn't) but he is so pot bellied, that sometime when I call him I yell "Here Pig, pig, pig! Soooweeee! Luckily he is not to particular about what he is called and will still come to me. ~L

I have never had an inside dog that stunk up the place. Your dog is gonna start oinking at you soon, Lori . . .

Love your poem, Lori, but hate what you call precious Winston.  Not that it is insulting to be a pig.  Pigs are wonderful.  But it is insulting to be called a pig if one is a dog and vice versa.  Perhaps you should consider putting him on a dog food that is scientifically designed to reduce weight.  Here Hills makes various foods, one of which is to reduce weight.

Owl,
He is on a diet (we both are and we are walking to lose weight) I am a name caller. He is my little chubby buddy, cubbawubba, sweetums, little lap lump, smoochie poochie, etc. It is all about the tone of voice. I have it bad for this little guy. I even blow on his belly and make those obnoxious fart noises. (I call it playing the fataphone) He gets gobs of hugs and kisses and scratches.
There is nothing like the sound of his contented sigh. ~L

Yes, Lori, I know you well enough to know all that, but please don't call him a piggy-wiggy, no matter how sweet the tone, pretty please?  I saw elsewhere after posting this, that you are walking him to help him lose weight and that he was overweight when you got him recently.  I just wanted to offer some advice for his sake, at the risk of annoying you if you weren't you, but you are you, so I knew I woudln't annoy you.  I am glad he is on a diet, though, as well.
