This is a rewrite, reformat and retitle of an earlier piece. It may be a little abstract for some tastes. The Game He does what I have yearned to do as well so easily you know it flows with the arc of baseballs in a mid-flight-from-outfield -to-second-base-and-home-plate-night-game So easily the smack of distant leather the eyes of past lives squinted shut and forward eyes seized by the moment, merge in the slur of motion— ball to glove to escape veloc... Peanuts, beer and hotdog vendors shouting— urging with every other screaming throat Out! You buncha losers! C'mon cmon cmon! Safe! Allow the call or fault it— either way Smouldering moon over fallen dark embers —Fragments rising in corkscrew red-gold rhythms . |

At first, I found myself reaching out for a hot dog and a beer. After that, it was watching the "the big bambino" making eyes at the center field wall. Then the ghostly Flatbush "bums" of Ebbets came to mind. In other words, your poetry was a good read and set me to thinking. The beauty in abstract is that I can have it my way without having to be right or wrong. I like that. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Ahhh . . . Dem bums. Hated it when they moved to LA. ~*~ Life is simpler when you plow around the stump. ~*~ |

I really liked this piece... the passion that can encapsulate the game builds and bleeds through it. Nicely done. Michael |
