I thought that I lay wide awake, yet I bathed in a dream That cauterized the worlds regrets and made my spirit gleam, I wandered through an oil paint world of picturesque content Where every scene of light and shade was truly heaven sent, My soul was smile touched wonderment, as also was my heart And in the dream was pure completion without an ending or a start, Just caresses of forever that stroked softly down my spine Those wonderful spring sentiments that turn to summer wine. I turned over into a sunlit dawn and dreamed myself aware Of birdsong whispers all around, such wondrous beauty there, I sat beneath my parasol, and sipped my Earl Grey tea While all around, each glint of sound were small segments of me, And as the dawn swept rising sun drew shadows on the lawn I emerged from my embryo, with the morning I was born, The breath of every living thing combined with sacred charm And for just a fleeting moment, the whole world was steeped in calm. I sensed things that just were not real, segments of my dream world As moments turned to butterflies, I watched as their wings unfurled, With all life deemed as a chrysalis just waiting to be borne Upon the breezes as they hatched, like angels of the dawn, Yet even dreams need dreams sometimes, to make their dreams come true We know through life’s experiences that toy with me and you, I gently nipped my arm once more, and woke up in a dream Yet it was just reality, sometimes a dream’s not what it seems… |

I love the imagery you present throughout this entire piece. quote:In my youth, I often pondered if reality was dream, and what we experienced in dream something far truer to the soul. But is the dream, itself, the life, Without the confusion, sin, or strife? Are the conscious thoughts we feel and deem The very essence of a dream? Thank you for reminding me of my youthful passions. My reminiscences within dreams take a more black and white "real" reality of my life's story. Instead of my quote:mine was not so user friendly. But as I read this poem (twice) I have to admit some wistful thoughts that I could write such a poem without getting down and dirty as I so often do (trying to stop doing that). I have really missed out on much because of my inability to forgive certain people. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |
