   A Moment of True Love

Perhaps in a mystic somewhere
   long, long ago,
I have already lived a full
and joyous life with you,
as you are she for whom
I have been seeking always.
Why have we met only in
the random twilight now,
when hope and future lie
ephemeral as the silent fog
that shrouds this vanishing
forest road to nowhere,
and the past is but a sad
and lost whirlpool-mirage of
fleeting dark and lonely memories.
If I could trim and light a
thousand lovely trees in
these Winter woods tonight
beneath the glorious stars
and Christmas moon,
or pen one of Shakespeare’s
   finest dreams,
they could not begin to match
a single moment of true love.

a feeling echoed in many of us out here,
that believe somehow that love did exist
at one time for us.
Happy Christmas to you too !
