Strawberry Still Life #7

Drawn from memory,
delicate lines criss cross
stars that blur on watercolor nights
they only blink when I do
the Roman wine poured like blood like blood
and I fall as a leaf in autumnal adoration
hit the ground fast,
taste the sweet fruit of living,
blueberry-eyed surprise,
a fractured emo disguise

Glide on slats of wood,
splinters stuck in the side of me
swooning into a numb dance
'cause I'm stoned on the way to love
pheromones swimming back inside
my skin is perforated
and drying on the windowsills of Hopper paintings
dot my goosebump landscape, love
be all that's relentless in me
striking lightning.
streaking bright lies

Riverside painters ignore the dawn
water lilies instead brought to attention
tin soldiers on the mental march
and I forgot my hotel key
lost in the cafe closed at dusk
and she scarred me with lipstick
but that's the perfect death
if I was to be stabbed by the moon's edge
and cut into dreamless pieces of black night
Paris you are the hell that's shaped like heaven
but the scents still linger in my nostrils
and she still has fingerprints on me
so soon I will fall like a butterfly without wings
into weary entropy
and why not anyway?
Dancing like Gene Kelly on threads of sanity
painted dimples on a too lovely face
