EVER-SOLDIERING
11 October 2013

Lifting my face
full into the wind
and rain
and cold air,
I feel the chilling bite
of life
in its downside,
but I will not
succumb.

No. Never succumb. Rise to fight again.

Thank you, Jerry and EmmaRose, though guess why I had to write it (blush, blush)?

Thank you, Goldenrose.  Yes, I draw from my reserves of stoicism when fortitude is needed and as a healthy balance to my over-abundant supply of emotions.

Thank you, Bruce, it had to be, to serve its purpose, to counteract the effects of the sword, for the sword is, indeed, not mightier than the pen.

I will remember this when I'm feeling down.
Trying to catch up with the new poems. I have been sick with bronchitis for about 3 weeks and haven't been on the sight much.

Succumbing would be giving up . . . who wants to do that.

Proud of you.

Thank you, Ida.  I am glad it will help you when you are down.  I am very sorry to hear that you have had bronchitis.  I wish I could cut off huge chunks of my health and give it to you – or even all of it – I am certain my inexplicable health would just grow back in the wink of an eye.

Thank you, Jimmy.  It isn’t always easy – or rather, it isn’t ever easy, but writing poems like this helps one to keep on track.

Thank you, Yann.  I am very touched indeed by your kind words.
