You tickle me as winds
peek through your branches
your elegant plaids and tricolored
leaves, gracing my face, and
my steps round the runner's trail,
where I get lost, caught up in
the golds of October, yet yearning
that all stay as the permanent greens,
thick like a love that won't waiver

Sudden streams and the onset of rain
and where is your parasol now?

I laugh running with glee, these
cavalier thoughts now sprinkle
my workout attire, printing out
a polka dot theme, designed
by the later morning showers.
