Second Place He took Manning like I wanted, And know I should have done. Now I'll forever be haunted By seven touchdowns in week one. No, I got Matt Ryan instead— Thought him to be first class. Now I watch most his balls drop like lead, It's hard to throw once you're knocked one your... butt! My sleeper pick, Ahmad Bradshaw, Was set for his best year. But the Colts know magic, as we all saw, One trade made him disappear. An autopick slip gave me Jimmy Graham, My obvious M.V.P. Still I wonder, stickler that I am, Where I might have been with Breeze. For he got Cameron off the wire, While holding waiver pick ten. Now that just sets my world on fire, Where's the rest of our league been? Four-hundred points through three weeks, Has that even been done before? My one-twenty average sure seems bleak, But where can I find some more? Alas, a Pats receiver is all I can do. God, doesn't that feel shady... Have I really been reduced to Having to root for Tom Brady? And so I sit here, head hung in shame; Want to drink it away, like some boozer. Second place, after all, is just another name For the king of the losers! For Mikey, for making my best fantasy football start ever seem so so subpar. Love ya, son. This ain't over yet! I feel for ya! My workplace formed a league this year - and after draft day, I stopped calling it fantasy football and call it what it is - frustration football. The worst of it is... after a lifetime of watching someone else walk away with the guys I wanted... I volunteered for THIS misery! LOL I got Jimmy Graham, too - otherwise, I got the draft shaft. The fact that you have written this for your son makes it so very precious, dear Michael. Sport events are such a vast portion of our children's life (and ours still, too). And how to remain cool and calm in midst of all the passion is an important attitude to conquer. A write of great impact. Margherita |

Hah! You could root for a lesser QB, Brady has proven himself. Great poem for a great kid, I have no doubt. ~*~ I don't have to eat sarcasm to recognize the flavor. ~*~ |

Stepping out of character in this serious yet light hearted piece. Thinking to myself as I read that you had really turned over a new leaf. Finding out at the end that it was indeed very much a love poem for your son...Priceless. Lori |
