ONCE UPON A TIME IN AFRICA 11 August 2013 Somewhere far away over the oceans wide, while the daylong rain, pelting at first, has softened into a slow dirge and continues to paint the windows heavy with mixed emotions, as the day draws to a close, somebody is wrapped up in a movie whose once-upon-a-time is “I once had a farm in Africa.” Owl |

Didn't have to read your poem to know what it was going to refer to. One of my all-time favorites for many reasons: talent, story, scenes, production, direction, music. Seems to have it all. Watched it many times and will again. Movie as poetry? |

sounds like an interesting choice of respite on a dismal, glowering kind of day. (It was a similar day yesterday ... here in the ancient 'endless' mountains of old Appalachia) |

Thank you, Ida. You are very perspicacious. Smiles. Thank you, Ed. I am glad it evoked such pleasure for you, especially at this sad time. I haven't watched it myself. I can't remember if my friend mentioned its title - I will have to ask him, or look up his email about it. However, the description from the two of you, is wonderful. I love references to my beloved continent and/or country. Thank you, Bruce. Apparently it was! Sorry you didn't have it to watch yesterday. Owl |
