I’d like to touch someone, someone that wants the touch,
I’d like to feel someone that wanted the feeling so much,
To take the time to take the time to listen to nothing
But the beating of hearts and taking of breath in and out,
I’d like someone that the quiet pause of nothing
Is more important than the loudest shout.
I’d like to hold somebody whose body wants to hold,
I’d like someone beyond the young and the old.
Each morning I start my mourning in a lonely bed,
Perhaps the dishes done or still in the sink,
They’re safe as long as the cats are all feed,
Undisturbed  before new nightmares I can just think
Trying to dream you before the dreams drift in sleep
I’d like to touch someone before I weep.

Loneliness can actually cause physical pain sometimes, Professor. Love and light to you.

You are not alone Professor.  There are those that have a "special someone" and then somehow find themselves feeling the way you do anyway. I wish for you to find the kind of love Jerry has found (only yours be more than cyber). Bless your heart

I, too wish for you to find the one you can love, and I concur with Lori, I hope you yours will be physical and in your arms, not in your dreams as are mine.

I want for you to find this too.  Your poem touched something inside me ~ maybe the gray day frames the loneliness of your words.  Days like today are days of reflection for me - your poem adds to this.
