Over the garden fence Blustered flustered, she mouthed the words In silent tongue the secrets told Her hands red raw from dolly tub The alley breeze was blowing cold Tom cat watching his whiskers preened The wooden pegs he likes to chew Her sleeves rolled up her ham shank arms Shame of Doris,at forty two The ashes in the dustbin cool And she so prim like collar starched To feel the lash of gossip's tongue As down the lane the brass band marched The sooty rain to stain the shirts And vinegar on window panes You won't believe who died today And weeds that grow in cobbled lanes See Mrs Booth in negligee The milkman likes her toast the best And have you heard of that young girl In her first bra, just out of vest They tittle tattle like the birds For what they see is always told No sweetness on the tip of tongue She goes back in, her brew gone cold. |

Aye, the gossipers will gossip, the tongues will way, and if you don't show up to tittle tattle in the morrow they will talk about you. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

I really like this... You capture the tongue wagglers so very well... nothing is safe or sacred. Great write! |
