I have walked many friendless roads, I walked them using my own code. Though I have faltered I walked on, Sometimes I'd break into a run. I left death that would do me in, Got off that road, stuck out my chin. ©July 31, 2013 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you lined paper write sideways. ~*~ |

To Michael . . . This poem has six lines. Five out of the six have the word "I" in them. Just saying . . . ~*~ If they give you lined paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Once upon a time when someone tried to teach me to write poetry (unsuccessfully I might add) he said that the use of the word "I" would have more impact on the reader - bring them more into your world as it were. I perhaps hide behind the "she" or "gypsy lady" or something similar but after all isn't life just a story anyway? There are elements in every story that we can relate to so I don't think it really matters if we use "I" or not. |

I've been known to use she instead of I more than a time or two. Shhh, don't tell, it is a secret. Lori ![]() |

Darn, I shouldn't have left that comment for Michael. Nobody is commenting on the poem. Thanks anyway Honeybunch and Lori. ~*~ If they give you lined paper write sideways. ~*~ |
