Steam heat hits you like a wall when you walk out the door Radiant green grass generates thick unbreatheable air under the Bunsen burner sun Brilliant blue skies vacuum up heaping cotton ball clouds Dead calm runs in riverlets of wasted stinging sweat Shade of trees offers mirage of coolness for temptation Continuous thirst for relief presses cold glass to forehead LGR(C)7/20/13 |

Oh boy! Did you ever call it with this poem, Lori. From the steam heat to the Bunsen burner sun to the wasted stinging sweat. Summertime! Bring back cool weather, I wasn't one who was wishing for this. I also relate to the cold glass to forehead. [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (07-20-2013 10:58 AM).] |

Here in Kansas we get hot and dry and the humid too. When we get rain it is like a sauna and when there is no rain it is like a confection oven. I'm happy you liked my poem. Lori ![]() |

Speaking of global warming Jimmy, this has been the oddest year for weather here. We have had quite a bit of rain in July and several below normal temperatures and it looks and feels more like June and I think we had frosts up to the end of April (maybe in to May) that may not sound like "warming" but I know it is connected to a change in world wide weather patterns. It didn't get very cold this winter so this has been an awful year for fleas and ticks and other creepie crawlies that mostly die off during the winter.
