There’s time for self but rarely used
As thoughts of lose keep it abused
Then all the things that sit in wait
Become a kiss that came too late

Again today I thought I might
Release the chains that time has tight
But something else became the chore
And then the thought of self no more

A shame that life and time do form
A busyness where haste is born
And everyday like one long sigh
To selfish times do kiss goodbye

So when I see a moment pass
I think about the time we loose
And hope with age more moments come
That we can claim and somehow use

It's very well said (in all senses), Rick!

I use to spare time for self (when I don't have to look after my kids), but people think that I'm a good-for-nothing. And so I should sacrifice my reputation just to be myself, for I don't fit that "busy" life they mean.

Hi Gale, thanks for your reply my friend, life does get very busy and we do tend to forget about ourselves or just do what is right by others, I used to write a lot of poetry but just finding the time and then using it is very hard. I hope to keep sharing from time to time here on PIP, keep writing my friend and take care.

Sincerely Rick

Rick, your words are wise and true! It will be a pleasure reading you. Time for self is a hard trick to learn...but writing seems the easiest "me thing" I can do (besides napping LOL)

Hi Rick. At least you're taking time to write again. Glad to see you back.

Dear Rick, it is so good to see you again sharing your beautiful poetry. And in this one you explain the reasons too for your long absence.

We must make room, more room that is, for our own passions, no doubt.

Its been so long since I had time for just me. I know that's why I don't write anymore...life just has a way of tripping me up whenever I try...lovely write.

Hi Paula, thanks for the reply, you should try to write again, I have not written much for years, life has been very busy but writing is a part of me so I have decided to make this time, you should do the same, it is a great outlet and nice to share with others with the same passion, have a great day
