The common photo
I stare at faces
The girl is sad and the boy is smiling
Some former date to betray the place of
That sudden meeting
It’s all behind

I keep this moment, my priceless treasure
You won’t recall it
I won’t forget it
It’s just your work, it’s someone’s pleasure
The hell for me
The chance rejected

Perhaps my dream is the kind of fiction
My fallen star
And I’m getting older
And all I’ve got now is that your picture
With me
Forever behind your shoulder

Love and how it affects us and how it wounds us is stuff poets write about. You, my friend, fall in line with those of us who have taken this same road with you. I have gotten lucky. In my old age I have found happiness, and I hope the same for you.

Hauntingly beautiful, Galina.  I ache for your pain.

Real "Love" shouldn't sting, yet it does make
for wonderful poetry. I know from where you speak, it is of a sweet and wounded heart.

best of yours yet, read by me, my friend.  Very poignant and feeling ... all came across well to the reader.

Thank you, EmmaRose!
I don't think that love stings.
Actually it heals.
But you feel really terrible when you misunderstand what is happening.
