THE FAIRY QUEEN

Victoria, my little Fairy Queen
The prettiest thing I'd ever seen
Her yellow hair flowing free
Like golden thread to her knee

Pink roses she loved best
The flower petals for her dress
She danced amongst the garden flowers
Enchanted, I watched her for hours

In the spring, from dawn to dusk
She pranced and twirled tossing fairy dust
To ensure all the flowers to grow
For an abundant blooming show

Then she taught the baby birds to sing
Wishing, she too, could take wing
For her secret wish was to fly
To view the world from up on high

I wanted only, for her to be happy
So I, her king, the Busy Bee
Gave her wings and set her free
Knowing that she'd part from me

But she said, "Would my king be so free
To take wing with me,
So together we may fly
And dance upon the sky!"

Ah . . . poems about little Fairy Queens always touch my crusty old heart. This was utterly wonderful, I hope you read it to her.

Kitty-Kat, your timing of this was perfect for me too!  Yesterday in my indigneous forest garden, I came across a fairy ring of toadstools.  There are often toadstools, but, to the best of my recollection, there has never been a fairy ring of them.  Perhaps, your Fairy Queen granddaughter and her King Bee flew via South Africa and rested in my indigenous forest garden, the night before last?  If so, I hope you rested well each on your own toadstool, and that all of the other little creatures on the other ones entertained you well and gave you fairy food and fairy wine to sustain you in your long flight.  Also, if you were here, thank you for visiting my much loved indigenous forest garden.

I will email you a photo of the fairy ring.  Unfortunately, the toadstool seats in the photo are empty - but perhaps the Fairy Queen and her King Bee may be able to see themselves with their special Fairy Queen and King Bee eyes.

Thanks Owl for your wonderful reply! Just might give me an idea for another poem. Looking forward to seeing the fairy ring of toadstools.

Ah, Kat... I have a 5 year old grand daughter myself and I saw her in almost every line here.   She was a fairy for halloween last year.  The joy in grandchildren is something I never imagined possible.  I' glad you're enjoying it too.
