Amending the First

I'm dotting T's and crossing eyes
that I might find some compromise
from all your self indulgent lies
like needing to control.

I'm leaving you, religion,

and giving pigeons all your crumbs
that I might hear the beating drums
that freedom gives a freedom from
more than a freedom of.

I'm leaving you, religion,

that I'd be free to love.
