Her cheeks felt the ice filled January
with her hands clasped into his
with her white fur coat
ringing its fur around the ice cascade of
the small cobbled streets that rested not far from their home.

Black trousers,
midnight blazer,
with a thin, black belt
underneath his crisp, cut white button down shirt

underneath her white fur coat
black sweater, cashmere
tight legged, boot cut jeans
drifted just above her four inch black heels
bouncing off each corner they walked upon

HIs hand slowly left hers
slowly moving behind the middle of her back
the middle of hopes tangled with a heart
that rested not too far away
the hope that her heart was onward
with a ghosts dream of become alive, again

She lowered her head
and turned it sideways,
towards the right side of his shoulder
with her eyes slowly fixed
on the moons sharp eyes

She walked with her feet onto his
for she feared that if she walked alone
she'd never see another man, again
Fearing her own words
could not seem to reach his black slender tie
soft skin, necklines just a few inches
from underneath his chin

So silence often invited the night
to walk with them
one standing upright, the other leaning inward
against a slow ridged river
shuttering as each wave came

Along the quiet, steel corners of the street
as her eyes never lost track of his stare
never leaving the ledge of his cheeks
for beneath she worried,
her tears would solemnly swear
that her heart belonged in another field
another state past where the street signs never cross the nearby piers.
