Asmodius Darkley's demonicus tome,
fell from the shelf when he wasn't at home.
This malifacarious monstrous book,
sprang up the chimney, and hid in a nook,
thumbing it's pages, with gratified glee,
it whispered, "Oh Darkley you'll never catch me".
It plotted with pentangled poisonous might,
for Darkley's return, that very same night.
Imprisoned in darkness and covered in soot,
it would have its revenge, and its freedom to boot.

Asmodius Darkley, walked into the room,
he shivered, the temperature cold as a tomb,
he walked to the fireplace, brandished his wand,
igniting the wood, the spell settled upon.
From deep in the chimney he heard a loud roar....
and demonicus ashes, fell soft, to the floor.

Asmodius Darkley, perturbed by the dust,
pulled up his armchair, and said in disgust...
"If books will go scheming, and do what they must,
I am not responsible, when they combust!"

Hah! I completely and thoroughly enjoyed the insanity of this poem. Made me think of Ogden Nash. (That's a compliment.)
