the years have come
each one adding one less day
for it to be my last
sometimes in my mind
I feel quite heroic
I've managed, all by myself
to vanquish my demons
except one
the one who causes me much grief
pain and self abuse
it strips me of my thoughts
heart and soul
turns me into someone I detest
it's hidden in the darkness of myself
it gnaws at me
striving to be released from its prison
I am strong
I keep it hidden
but it is there, it lies in wait
it knows
I'll slip up and
it knows what will make me loose control
long enough for
paranoia
to slither out of it chains
and attack me
and anyone close to me
I know the secret to keep paranoia chained
so again I will slam the door
on Satan's spawn

Very impressive, dear Jerry, to know oneself is the first step to deal with weak sides.

To control them is a conquest really, to get rid of them definitely seems often a life's job. I believe no one is really totally free of those attacks of our "bad" sides.

To write about it is doing the right thing no doubt. And you do it with your usual passion.

Peace.

Writing is therapeutic is the old axiom, and I, for one, believe it. Thank you, Margherita, for understanding that and you corresponding comments.

Scary photo for sure, Victoria. I tried to find one that represented what paranoia will do to you. It's a killer. Thank you so much for your generous comments . . .
