how frail you were in my arms on that day when time slowed and nearly stopped, for you in the hush of illness I rocked you like waves, gently the sound of my heel a metronome keeping time with the machine that counted your life that counted my life You are fatherless and I; one father-figure less you wore scars before birth. I cradled you in my womb for as long as I could, and you fed me with life life the warmth and brilliance of it and I shared it with no one my luna, sweet redemption On your day, I was the moon - full and white; hovered on the cusp of love, barely cresting the horizon You are my moon-child, white and wild of me lace draped lilacs and a light like a knife, bright hot It is amazing how the world dies at night when 3am is desolate, it is so easy to believe in nothing and you , my tiny luna a lifeline pearls strung taut from my desperation you held me, nourished I you - and we grew; together I remember how you strained to be heard eyes like obsidian, and blue water too large in a face sunken by pain and reaching, I held my hands splayed yearning to cling to the throb bring it to myself I prayed for the first time in a long line of disillusionment to God and Allah to Hera and Dionysus the nurse, and the other child down the hall to anyone that could hear maternity, primal and screaming take me instead I took in each breath and held it to my breast and you endured; like wind and change you breathe courage and feed it to me in waves sweet, little redemption |

You wrap up a ton of emotion in this one. Beautifully intense. Just so you know, I think you're the best mother I've ever had the pleasure to witness in the act of being "mom" ((hugs)) to you, Nicole. Michael |

Jeez. Choking sobs back. Not my style. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

It is said that our children are our hearts walking outside of our bodies; this is so true. Thank you, (hugs) to you all. |
