What is this rope i hold on to so dearly How did i think to use it that night Did it fall from heaven as it knew i needed To tie to an angel, to hold her so tight Might all things have a reason for the good of men God works in mysterious ways we all have been told That night something so precious, little did i know Prayers were answered, here's someone to love and hold This angel nurtured me ever so slowly yet surely With kindness, love, and a heart made of perfect gold Gave me hope to live my life longer and to its fullest Knowing she would be there as we both grew old So you see, this rope means more to me than life itself More than all the wealth of precious diamonds and pearls Though unseen, the common thread of life that binds two hearts as one And creates the union of man and woman across the world |

"Knowing she would be there as we both grew old." yes, indeed, I like your poems. My wife and I are both old now, and have have left the years of grasping, possessive love of youth. But we are more good friends now. We can remember who through the first snowball fifty years ago! We grew up together as children. Though I'm sure it was her, she still won't admit it even now! Your poems are delightful! |
