On my way to buy some groceries dinner thoughts in darkening sky I write of observation Touch Me questioning my inner eye With no cover against the cold Angel Dust dancing at her feet tethered to the December wind across afternoon and the street Jumping eager pulled Old Hungry slow feet scattered the dry leaves I wondered should I give them something as darkening sky brought colder breeze Shift and turn I stopped for groceries and see surprise in front of door Angel Dust is leashed to lamp post with the sky about to pour I have no answer to the question what happened now time's had its way but Angel Dust and Old Hungry blow around my thoughts and stay |

How extremely poignant and giving for this time of year...they remind me of the children 'round the feet of the third vision/saint that Scrooge saw... but you are far from Scrooge...and your heart always feeds us not only at Christmas, but all across the months... you are my blessing. |

I admit to being lost here, Martie, but the freestyle reminds me of some of the beat poetry of many decades back without the gloom and doom of it. |

Hey Sissie...you must have been there. Hugs! Jerry...There was an older woman crossing the street with her dog on a very cold and windy day. She looked as if she could be homeless and her dog was cute as could be but dirty. They were both skinny. I named the woman Old Hungry and the dog, Angel Dust. I wondered about them as I sat in my car while they crossed the street and then was surprised to see the dog tied up outside the store when I came out. Ever since, hy heart has hurt because I did nothing. |

Hey Martie... Like Jerry, I was a bit confused. But your latter post cleared things up and brought meaning to what I think is a fine piece. I've been there, and done that too. If I had just.... Thanks for sharing. Peace. |

Martie - your words are always like "angel dust" to me. We often wish that we had done something but I think you would have if you had been meant to. Helen |

Very sensitive write, dear Martie. And you did offer them your compassion and love within your heart and this energy has touched them both, no doubt. We simply can't give money to everyone we meet who is in need, there are too many, especially in big towns. Love, Margherita a Christmas smiley for you |

I almost didn't post this because it didn't seem to have a conclusion that pleased me. The strange thing is, I went back to that store after I'd written it and heard a dog barking. I was going in the other door and didn't see it, but knew it was the same dog. When I came out, there was Angel Dust tied to a bench with about 10 people standing around worrying over her. The manager of the store even came out. He said he knew the lady who left the dog and that she was shopping. Without that dog, she would have been just another person, but by the frantic way the dog acted when she left him, (and cuteness) I hope that both got some attention. |
