New Jersey Jane (Gypsy Willow Blues) Sweet gypsy willow softer than a pillow she trades in her miniskirt for faded blue jeans she rollercoasters down to the scene where kids dance amid the rubble of Coke machines and American dreams gypsy willow in and out of trouble looking for a Romeo boardwalk king to set fire all her fantasies a boy to conquer her stormy seas and stir the embers deep in her soul mine a New York diamond from her Jersey coal and only a princess of Palisades can deal with the pinball princes intent to steal but gypsy's stamped with a Pauper seal And the rollerskate queens of the southside tear and scratch at her tender underside she runs the gauntlet of another sad sunset just to find a love to call her own a dollhouse to call her heart home go on girl of unholy rhythm sew up that bellbottom schism and twirl through the night to the sound of the street sweepers it's all right, it's all right funky dancer, a ballerina weeper Sweet angel honey spendin' her money on dreams to burn tonight to keep her warm she rumbles on down to the swarm where dice get tossed for chance and the arcade boys shoot up a storm angel honey gets lost in romance sharper than a razor blade, so torn and worn out like her faded blue jeans see her down on her knees those kids all surround her like buzzin' bees tryin' to get a taste of her sweet honey but in the end they all wind up running a runaway blaze from her gaze And the rollerskate queens of the southside tear and scratch at her wounded pride she runs from dark room to darker room but she's out of money too soon back on the street earnin' tears a currency that leaves only fears go on girl of broken meter something's inside you much sweeter than that honey you spend come on silly, sweet gypsy willow just bend, you can bend to the radios from tenement windows It ain't over yet, New Jersey Jane the stateline is just on the other side of insane where cold beer and warm boys await your return to the land where your wandering spirit fire first burned go on and let it burn go on and let it burn burn down the city until you learn to stand on your own again to stand on your own again hey Jane you left your heart wide open once again "And all the world is football-shaped, |

I like it Zach I like it a lot. Full of earthy images and lyric like lines. Amazing what one has to turn to to survive. I really love that 'Gypsy Willow Blues.' That's a hook for a good blues song, I just can feel it. Take care Eric |

Can't agree with Eric more. This had the earthiness and soul that could be put to a bass in the background and a baritone blues singer. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

The poetry of the streets....nothing like it! It has a great Algren flavor to it with more good lines than I can count....fine work here. |

Images of poor Jane! flash through my mind. Fine lines, the ending is perfect with a moral. "Hardwork pays in the long run" |

thanks all. I guess it could be a kinda blues song, but really the inspiration for this is the character portraits that Bruce Springsteen paints in his songs. I've ripped him off so much it's ridiculous. Anyway, thanks again! "And all the world is football-shaped, |
