shadows without sun lonely reason to hide and think of ways to take your life take a walk inside the shadows sleepwalk if you must down by the docks listen to the waves lapping the piers chill out even God rested on the seventh day not talking about praying here naw but it's okay if you must whatever keeps your head on straight as nighttime creeps over you sending your thoughts scurrying into another realm of your raison d'ĂȘtre bring this feeling to your heart caress it tenderly (whisper to the sky to hold back the night) for the shadows are disappearing it refuses your request still . . . an ice-white moon illuminates where you stand back in shadows again you take a deep breath tremble thinking about death working your way through it knowing it awaits ah hell this sure ain't the way to grandma's house although quite alone intensity surrounds you everywhere hear raven caw counting down the . . . hours . . . minutes . . . seconds? fall on your knees see how the wind blows Weathermen gonna kill us all no need for selfdeath's plan tears of liberation maybe forget the pain of tonight in another twenty years waiting for the Weathermen . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Wow...this really borders on, but touches sincerely, the realm between dark, and light. To put the blame on weathermen? I'm not sure about that. Now, nature herself, she's a mighty taskmistress, and only the strong will survive. Maybe the point is, what chance do we take, in making sure She does? Good read, thought provoking. Thanks, Sir. |

Fine writing, Jerry. The history behind it is good one too. Thanks for sharing it. "Hardwork pays in the long run" |

Jerry...Very interesting! I felt a chill from inside the shadow of your imagery. Enjoyed the Weatherman history as well. |

Thank you Martie for the warm response to the, admittedly gritty poem. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Bernardine Dohrn was one of the front runners of the Weathermen Underground. She spent the 1970's living underground and was on the FBI's top ten list. She is now a professor and director at Northwestern University in the Children and Justice Center. Bill Ayers (former member) is now a professor at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He lived "underground" for ten years and wrote a book about his tribulations entitled Fugitive Days. Ayers is also married to Bernardine Dohrn (former Weathermen leader). Mark Rudd was also a big leader in the Weathermen. Rudd is most famous for his protest at Columbia in 1968. He lived underground for several years during the seventies along with many of his fellow members. Rudd is currently a teacher in New Mexico. ...and we wonder why the country is screwed up. Powerful writing, Jerry... |

I don't wonder why the country is screwed up, Balladeer. Fifty or more years of far left-wing propaganda from Kindergarten through the universities have been instrumental in doing us in. But I agree, the bunch that is up there now are putting things in place that will take years to dissemble, if ever. Nero is fiddlin', but this time he has his orchestra backing him up. Thank you for your fine comments. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |
