My eating disorder, or so I've read May be related, as a child to how I was fed Each night at the dinner table, I approached with dread Forced to eat vegetables or sent off to bed My parents thought I must be unwell I hated the taste of most foods, the look and the smell I once ate only peanut butter sandwiches for a year Why I did this, the reason to me is clear "You must eat like everyone else!"...but I'm not the same My taste buds are different and genetics are to blame Zesty foods that you eat with such great zeal To me seem awful and bitter and have no appeal I like my food plain with no spices or sauce Scientist tells us they now know the cause It's found in my genes, I was born this way I didn't choose to be picky, it's just my DNA |

"Zesty foods that you eat with such great zeal To me seem awful and bitter and have no appeal" I like my foods plain, too. I don't have an eating disorder but would rather taste the basic food than the spices etc... well written, Maureen |

Hah! Ass are many of our "oddities" linked to DNA. Peanut butter for a year? I hope you saturated it with honey. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Oh this is truth..! I abhor forcing children to eat. I truly do think it may contribute to issues with eating. I clearly recall attempting to chew and swallow a very 'bouncy' piece of meat once, a horrid memory. :p I feel it is best to offer healthy choices, model proper eating, and they will pick it up from there. I wish you peace and health, Kat. My best~ Amaryllis A pile of scribbles here: |

I have a young grandson that only wants chicken tenders - for nearly every meal. He's happy, healthy, and his mom tries to offer up different foods...and if he is of mind, he might try them...but then goes right back to his favorite. |

Thanks everyone for checking out my poem. I've always been a picky eater, even now in my fifties I'll never change. Scenctist are now saying picky eaters is a eating disorder but really everyone is different and my taste is just different. Kat >^..^< |

When I was a kid I would annoy my parents and friends because I didn`t want gobs of condiments slopped on my food. I once angered my friend`s mother because she had made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for us but I wouldn`t eat them because I hated jelly because it made the bread mushy. I was called a plain Jane because I always wanted a plain hamburger or a fish sandwich without tartar sauce. I still haven`t changed. When I first came to Japan, I took a liking to Japanese food because most of it is plain and simple. Maybe you should give it a try. |
