Attitude. Now say the word, silently no-thought. Now whisper it in syllables, don't think about an audience. Say it aloud in normal tones, and try to add inflection in places stressed unusual-- again? That's just a test. Now get up and exercise. (Jumping jacks are fine.) Make that word a mantra and just scream it in your mind. Imagine it enpunctuate- "Attitude?" (The answer's"yes".) So answer in affirmative: "Attitude." Now nod your head. Spend a good amount of time enunciating this-- holler, whisper it, and whine. Then thump (or clutch) your chest. Someone will, eventually, ask you, "What the heck?" Just shrug and say, "I'm tawkin, here." (And that's a Hoffman test.) The world? It does not need to know the method thus revealed; for being like Chris Walken is about controlling zeal. It's all about that "attitude"-- (or a creepy lack of it) Smile and leave 'em wondering regarding your intent. Don't let 'em call you crazy- and don't eat the seroquel. Just scream the word until you're heard by your authentic self. "It's attitude, I tell ya, son!" and yes you do know how to dance. Just fake it--yes, yanno you can-- (the key is to go slow, then fast.) Channeling the Christopher is quite a useful tool. It's all about that attitude-- the courage to break rules. Study him and you shall see agreement of the fact: Walken's art is obstinate refusal to react. * * * I forgot the "u" in unusual. Love the irony, hate the error. ? I'm pretty sure I've seen everything C. Walken's been in...(with the exclusion of the plays, sadly) um, and his women. And underwear. *laughing* This is actually for you, Jerry. You inspired me to show some humor. Thank you. |

Confession time--"smile and leave 'em wondering" is a direct quote from Kari-sunshine. (She might have that copyrighted, so here's *daps* dawlin'--chuckles) and this one was on the back burner since I saw an interview with Mathew Broderick, who did that "Mississippi" movie with Walken, and he told a story about how he studied his lines, so he could be properly horrified as a newly recruited soldier under the inspection of a drill sergeant played by Christopher Walken. He imagined the lines from the D.I., neck veins bulging and screaming and such, but um...nope. Christopher Walken played the D.I. from Hell--a guy who didn't HAVE to yell, and if I recall correctly, Mathew B. said that the stunned look on his character's face wasn't acting at all--he was actually frightened by our friend, Walken. That's how it was rehearsed, and they kept it that way. Attitude, I tell ya. Hugs, J. |

I agree with this one for sure! Walken is one of those actors that simply exude!! I've never seen him make a bad performance and he makes any character believeable. Not that bad on comedy, either... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2guQYivZ6w |

Smiling at you...yep. Walken...one of my favorite character actors...and character personality. Of course, I love him best in the Sarah series. ...and I'm pretty sure that little "quote" has been used before by someone important... |

I do not love to write. But I had a great time writing this one, and it felt very good. Thank you all for the inspiration that prompted me to stretch a bit. I'm truly grateful to you all. |

You ... do not love to write. If that is true? I'm so glad I found you before you decided to quit. |
