night sky sparkles clean and cloud-free sliver of a moon blends into the splendor of flashing stars wished upon throughout the eons what is it about Heaven . . . Space . . . the great expanse . . . that calls us to lift up our voices on its behalf is Heaven up there or is it just . . . there believers and non-believers look to the sky for inspiration a rumble of dry thunder or maybe God's voice nights like this one could lose themselves and become as one with . . . everything they are . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Ah, as you look upward, day or night, and continue looking upward a a different sense of it all manifest itself. I find myself wondering just exactly how all this came about. Mind boggling. Thanks, Eric. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Many scientists like to pat themself on the back with their mathmatically based ideas of the beginning. However, a real close look sometimes reveals they're selling ideas and books to promote their own well being. Many times there's quite an professional ego conflict in those halls of higher learning. A careful unbiased look at the order of things makes one lean toward intelligent design. All the individual stars you see are in the Milky Way galaxy. Until the 1920’s, that seemed to be the only galaxy. You probably know, though, that observations with larger telescopes have since proved otherwise. Our universe contains at least 50,000,000,000 galaxies. We do not mean 50 billion stars—but at least 50 billion galaxies, each with billions of stars like our sun. Yet it was not the staggering quantity of huge galaxies that shook scientific beliefs in the 1920’s. It was that they are all in motion. Astronomers discovered a remarkable fact: When galactic light was passed through a prism, the light waves were seen to be stretched, indicating motion away from us at great speed. The more distant a galaxy, the faster it appeared to be receding. That points to an expanding universe! Even if we are neither professional astronomers nor amateurs, we can see that an expanding universe would have profound implications about our past—and perhaps our personal future too. Something must have started the process—a force powerful enough to overcome the immense gravity of the entire universe. You have good reason to ask, ‘What could be the source of such dynamic energy?’ |

Hear you loud and clear, Eric. To try and grasp the immense magnitude of the galaxy we thrive in, never mind fifty billion more is more than mind-boggling it is impossible. Although I was born and raised in the Baptist Church even as a child I had difficulty believing what, to me, was more like the comic books I read in those days. Flash Gordon, etc. I could never believe the outlandish claims made in the King James. However, somewhere along the road of life I read a quote from someone that "Even if there wasn't a God man would have had to make one." I have not completely shut the idea out, however. I have a novel which I will begin after I finish the one I am on now and one other and I call it God! It will be one mans search for the answer to the question, "Why does God allow innocent children, who have no sin, to be afflicted to horrible diseases and pain?" I'm going into it open-minded, but I fear I will not find a suitable answer. I would like to think I would. Thanks Eric for you enlightening comments. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Thanks, ebm. There was a time in my life when I had a lot of "time" on my hands and I would mark out a spot in a grassy part of the land and lay dawn facing the sky. The longer I lay there and stared into a cloudless blue sky the more I felt as if I were being incorporated into that vastness. It took me a while to figure out that yes, I was, and are, a part of it all. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |
