The Yellow Scarf |

Thoughts of how and why will surface later uncontrolled. For now, the yellow scarf burns: burns slowly, burns quietly matching the gentle, evening waves, the light of luminescent froth. While its smoke hides cuttlefish boats still lining the horizon, their lights shine through combining with the tide, breeze, and ash. They replace contorted memories of nameless constellations in speckled blood. They briefly distance his final vision of her with nearby stars. For the scrambled man, the martial-arts master and his woman frame and sieve and guard the light from fire, from boats, from froth. Before the blaming and the breakdown come, let ritual do its work: pulsing dimly, brightly, a fragmentary order. |

Mysterious and intriguing is this one. There is an old saying among thieves after a successful robbery, "Let's spend the evidence," and that is how this poem spoke to me. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Thanks for reading. Um, Sun, I just wish I had more time. I really can't spend much time on the internet. This was written more than a year ago: a ritual as a way of controlling ourselves when someone we love dies. |

"let ritual do its work" You still surprise me. I felt it--the confusion, the fog, and the determination that comes from places in ourselves that we never knew was there... The harsh lesson of bittersweet reality that as unfair and difficult life might be, it's still beautiful, even through pain. You are missed, Brad. |

Thanks again. Um. This is real. We really burned the scarf. |

I knew that...but just because it's real doesn't eliminate it as an excellent metaphor either. Remember what you told me--people don't need to know, so shaddup and let them think you're briliant. *touching the screen* Be well, Brad. |
