The poker players have a term With hands they think they'll win. They give their chips a mighty shove And say that they're "all in". All that they have is on the line. Their chips are on the felt. They're confident in victory With cards that they've been dealt. Old Lady Luck may treat them bad And winning hands get beat. At times those hands that just can't lose Will go down to defeat. They know this possibility For fate can't be controlled And there are times the better play Would be to pass and fold. But when they get a hand that says To fold would be a sin It's time to put it on the line And say that they're "all in". They've cast the die; they've spun the wheel, Decision has been made. They hope to get the best results From how their hand was played. They know that, if they want to win They have to bet it all And, when those special moments come "All in" must be their call. It's not in only poker, friends, This rule should be applied. For anything we want in life "All in" should be our guide. Sometimes we'll win; sometimes we'll lose, That's how the chips may fall But it is not a total loss If we give it our all. As for myself, I do my best. I may not always win But, when I play the game of life, I always go "all in". I'm never one to pass and fold And I'm not one to call. I'd rather raise and take my chance If I can have it all. And, even if I wind up broke, I gave the wheel a spin. I'll go to my grave knowing that I lived my life "all in". |

Prasad....you have it, man! Katahdin....the game of life IS a game of cards. Glad youenjoyed.. JerryPat and Eusta....it's like Kenny says - you got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. The trick is knowing when it's time to move all in. if you never do, you'll never be a winner. Sunshine...I wouldn't be surprised at all!!! |

So far, my easy play seems to be giving me the chip advantage. I've pushed "all-in" a time or two. Married and two kids, career change, mortgage... I'd say those were pretty big bets. I intend to keep playing till I go bust. As always, a quality read in content and style. You are the sharpest card in the deck my friend. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

Michael Over the years I have read many of your compilations of verse and you have such a great ability to make the meter flow so smoothly. Enjoyable for more reasons than that but it makes your works very musical in body. Excellent talent I'd say. As Forest Gump would say, "that's all I got to say about that!!" LOL! Have a good one! Amaryllis...it's always a treat when you enjoy my work. Thank you! Doc...I'll throw a nit in the next one....promise. Ron...a lot of life lessons out there. How come we ignore so many of them?? Thank you, sir.. Sir Andrew...yep, those are big bets indeed and you play the game well, I'm sure. Shuffle on! Mysteria...I know you will and so will I. The only difference between us is that my last chip won't be spent at Macy's!! LOL! Love you, my friend Late....impressing you would be a worthy goal for any man. Thank you for all of your kindness.. Eric...was that the same fellow who said "Life is like a box of Chiclets"??? Thanks for seeing that I like to "go with the flow" in my meter. I appreciate you, sir.. |

Words to live by. My yearbook quote was much the same, "If you have to lose make the other guy break a record!" Very nice! Dave |

As always a quality write. As for me, sometimes when you lose you win and vice versa. I remember going to the casino with my parents and playing a penny poker machine called `Party Pooper` I had this uncanny ability to pick the pooper out of a crowd so that I would be able to deliberately lose my money. Call it blind luck but I would pick the pooper every time guaranteeing my parents a laugh. I never had so much fun losing. |

It takes courage to go all in, after all a royal flush beats a full house. Sometimes we just have to fold and start over, and hope the next hand will give us a chance to go "all in". Enjoyed. -Trina. |

Excellent write! I loved it. It made me think a lot about living "all in" there's a lot of truth here. If one does not live giving it all and giving the best, one day there will be regrets. Taking chances is one of the meanings of living. Thank you for sharing!. |
