Moonlight dripped off the porch And left wet patches of light Between the shadows of cloud Where I liked to hide The glass of crazy smooth I sipped While I listened to the katydids Tell me about their day Without nagging about how high The grass had grown or how slow The mail seemed to be As they waited for notice That summer was being foreclosed And sold to Fall I liked the way Crazy Smooth went down a slow smooth burn in the throat Reminding me of how it was When Iambe started to cuss And the words warmed you up From the inside My glass being near empty I poured another shot of shadow Then sipped slowly thinking of her And how it was when she wanted to play Then leaned back to let the wind Run its soft fingers through my hair Something Iambe never did well Without pulling at the ends just like She would pull at threads Unraveling even the quietest night Into curling strands and leaving holes I could never fill Still my glass of Crazy fit the spaces between moonlight and now And on nights like this the warmth Reminded me of how it was to taste the best of Her |

Is it her you enjoy? if so... she is both a hoot and a pain to write... and I suggest you give her a try... If I remember right I traded two goats and a greeting card for her from another poet, but I'll let you try her out for nothing and if you like her, she fits your pen, then I'll take that dried sunflower head, and 4 jars of blackbery jam for her and she will be yours.... (chuckling) thanks for your nice words |

hmmmm....I'll have to walk around in her coveralls and think about it over a drink. |

Now you see, she wore overalls for me, but if you want to put her in coveralls, then it is probably a more modest dreass and mch more practical... just not as open to a glimpse now and then of what lay underneath.. lol please... feel free to write her... others here have written her or made family for her..and I am sure you would add a great deal to the legacy she has been.... |

Awww Lambe, I miss her, and crazy smooth, sheesh... you should market that stuff. This really took me back, to the porch with the most beautiful moth fluttering about. Special poetry for a special time. Yea, goes down so smooth. Thanks for this Cpat!!! |
