.

The air now
Is always
Turning cold

Your thin hair
Lies on the collar
Over the shoulders
Of a long gray coat

There is a chilled pall
On your cheeks
Your breath as mist
Rises into the night

The weary sea
Laps the shore
From somewhere
Out there
A bird’s sad call

We hear
Flights of geese
Watch them pass us by
Before a silvered moon

Our leaves
Are forever falling—

I will never
Stop loving you

It’s just something
I thought you should know

.
