Once again, it seems I am somehow wearing the wrong dress for this dream, there's a fraility in the clavicles, that tempts murder into the parlor as mirrors go dark with regret, un-corseted, I spill through the seams of something so fragile, and mourning after morning I wake from that wild darkness and emerge inside your heavy, shearling coat, powder a black slur at the nape, as my throat latches on air, a broken clasp, pales among the muddy mirabilis, we've become myth to each other, this tender conscription of hours, silky, devout occlusions, crinoline fragments stitiched in rinds of ricepaper and drumlins, and it's nothing like destiny, here's a wasp thumb deep in the heart of the pomegranate I keep cupped in my palm, her flesh its own brimstone, and poppied, though we pull out of the impenetrable, the dirtiest mosaic of wings, bathe them in rosewater, then plant them in each other's bodies, fly, and why only on Sundays, my eyes night like the sky on the sixth of November, and my name becomes nothing but a revision of origami lilies, although having never known the dirt by feel, yet, learn to root in wind. |

this tender conscription of hours, silky, devout occlusions, crinoline fragments stitiched in rinds of ricepaper and drumlins, this passage is a fine example of the sort of word and image use that associate with your writing.with all you share... a beautiful piece Ms Belle.. and as always I am simply blown away with the way you make the words more than the singular meaning of any one, or the collective.. brava.... |

mirabilis = wonder? My Latin's a little rusty. I enjoyed reading this. You are right of course, that sleep dreams are nothing like destiny... more like hopes and/or fears cycled through images and paradigms of recent and ancient acquaintance. Your comparison of differing apparel to dreaming and waking states here is appreciated. A quick websearch for November 6th in history brings a couple of possibly relevant results, but please be inscrutable as a worthy magician. Love the last stanza, too! |
