[about how love is not a sin] The union was supposed to be eternal in front of god and witnesses: Two loving souls binding themselves to each other's vices and personalities, getting the mighty permission to make love after the deal is sanctioned and sealed, the dowry given to the greedy father-in-law and the drunk wedding guests finally gone home. Forgive me father that I did not see you year after year, but honestly I cannot think of any tale which would be of an interest for you to hear about mine regular, uneventful life. I don't lie, I'm not mean, I don't steal, I'm following the rules and regulations, I'm doing my best, I don't do bad things; there are no sins in it All right my daughter, since you are now here it's not that important , but inquisitive minds need to ask more details about your life - you have a boyfriend now. Please answer my question: When you and he were alone didn't you commit with your fiancé any SIN at all? And I answered from the bottom of my soul with all purity and honesty of my heart: NO! What did I know about a sin? The father questioning me did not define what a sin supposed to mean! I made love to my fiancé over and over again any possible time any suitable place it wasn't dirty (we were always sparkly clean!) we didn't feel shame (we had gorgeous bodies we were twenty!) we didn't feel guilty (nothing was taken away from anyone else what would be expected from us while we were making love!) It was pure it was beautiful exhilarating . Heavenly. We loved each other and just learned a virtue of sharing our bodies. Repeatedly. How could sharing be considered a sin? How is that mean, how is that bad, how is that dirty how can anyone consider it a sin is nothing but perplexing to me. So the father got the answer I knew. But when he started asking inappropriate detailed questions, I thought: My Heaven is not going to be shared with a prying dirty old man. I lied deliberately. Now, how about that: During confession committing a sin? No, I really did not feel like sharing anything with him. As with the things people swap: Someone's treasure is another person's junk. I am perfectly fine with having junk in my life as long as it includes love (and hopefully lots of it - I like that kind of "junk"!) I don't care if it is bad, shameful or dirty in other people's minds. No one is here to tell me which love of mine is good and deserving and which love is dirty or bad. No one. Happiness of people who love is heavenly and this is really all what old priests ever need to know. Don't ask who loves who and how do they make love: It is none of your concern. Ask them if they are happy together and just be happy for them. Didn't God send a rainbow from Heaven to signify peace? We all come as a rainbow to this Earth; just think of this. |

Welcome to Pip! May I hug you from a distance for your wise and beautifully expressed thoughts here? The very concept of sin related to love is simply unacceptable. Thank you for showing here your deep awareness, your truth, unaffected by beliefs of others. Love, Margherita ![]() |

Excellent write imho. Comparable to some of the better stuff on the Dark Poetry board here, and even better in many ways. A wonderful easygoing style you employ here. As for subject, the Almighty sees and knows our minds and hearts better than any priest or pastor can, even the really fine ones (much less those who are not really suited for the task). Oh, this poem brings back memories of a 1960s(?) Italian(?) flick wherein the protagonist after a divine revelation about physical love runs around screaming, "It's not a sin! It's not a sin!" The memories aren't as good as they used to be---I can't recall which artsy movie that is at present, sorry! ![]() |

I think it was Oscar wilde who said "There is no sin except stupidity. There you go. Ida |

An important message. How warped that love can be construed as sinful when there is so much genuine hurt and sorrow in the wold. |
