*Inspired by Cpat Hair`s eloquent tales of the road.. . Amaryllis would like to thank everyone sincerely for their gracious comments. Fact is...our wonderful poet has found an editor who wants to publish it! As such, she needs to delete it from the site. She wants everyone to know how much she appreciates you and your encouragement! [This message has been edited by Balladeer (08-28-2010 06:43 PM).] |

This poem be slim, steady, and beautiful as a lake freighter in good weather. Wonderful imagery here. Hopefully the breakfast places aren't too few and far between! |

Amaryllis First, I am honored..that anything I might scribble scratch out could inspire you or anyone to write... Second..As for eloquent, this is much more eloquent, and much tighter in its weaving than my rambling stories... there is a lot to admire ( if not envy) in the telling... your imagery is tightly woven into the emotions of the piece. Your flow and choice of wording takes the reader along those roads and the long hours...the sudden realizations, that dawn as slowly as the sun, but are still in some ways sudden.. indeed poet.... a very nice piece... again, I am honored, and humbled.... but glad too that I got to read this, for it tells of an essence that perhaps I have tried to capture in my own meanderings. |

Thank you, Cpat Hair.. I am the one who`s humbled, by your praise.. I`m glad you enjoyed the poem and not offended that I drew from your inspirations.. truly there is much to be celebrated in your own indelible style! I enjoy your talent . Thank you also, easy1.. yes, breakfast came soon after, thankfully! . Best~Amaryllis |

Amaryllis.. offended? surely you jest... (chuckling) how could one be offended by such a wonderful write as this, or by someone building off your own scribblings? as for talent... you must, in all respect, have me confused with someone else... I'm just a hack following a tired form and formula to tell a story, or try to. The talent.... is you and all the others who find a way to mend the words torn from heart or life and place them delicately on the page to create those moments for the reader, that move them... |

Amaryllis...so many wonderful images in this...picking just one that captured me: "the periwinkle chill of a new dawn" You put me there behind the wheel...a good writer, you are! |

This poem is scattered with wonderful clauses - `fighting slumber cobwebs across your nodding face` and `your hands habit now upon the vinyl wheel` A nice piece. |
