I left Hwy 23 just before Turners Bend and picked up 215 Which winds its way in a torturous route along the edge Of Government land and doesn’t offer much in the way Of amenities or speed for those looking to travel Quick from point A to point B Then, I’ve been wandering back roads and making my way slowly From the day I was born, to someplace I haven’t found And no one ever accused me of being one to take the short way The thought had been nagging at me for quite some time And it was hot outside I could see the darker clouds building to the west Then slipping behind the tops of hills with a flash or two long the tops But no distant rumble of thunder to be heard And I wondered if like the thought I’d been mulling around They were all fury and no sound and if they contained any relief Or rain Somewhere along the way 215 turned more south and needing gas I stopped at a small store with two pumps And filled up the old truck, then walked around stretching tired legs Trying to get the kinks out of both the muscles and my mind When I opened the door to the truck to get in I reached up under the seat and felt around Found the straps I had long ago tied to the springs of seat Then slipped from them the small journal I hid there from myself And the urge I’d had at times to toss it aside or let the pages Find the empty wind as they scattered to nowhere Now, I let the cover slide under fingertips to feel what was inside The lost years, some might say That time I had gone away and had never explained When I came back one day to the memories of Iambe To the world of haul a load days and Red’s Then this trip to the Boston Mountains I put it on the seat beside me as I crawled in Not yet ready to open it and read the words it held For I knew that when I did I’d open again my heart to her and feel the way She moved inside the soul of me Alive And in love with her Still |

Thanks for the eyes on my meager scribble.. the empathy... is either there or not I suppose, and certainly what I scribble down won't find a home in everyone.. the journey, is a series..a continuation of sorts to bring full circle a set of characters created long time ago.. For most, probably not an easy things to empathize with and probably in many ways a bore..lol.. but we all write for ourselves to some degree and for me right now, I write to capture a story. The kindness of your words, and your looking in...is greatly appreciated. many thanks... |

Thanks Belle... in my usual meandering way and following the well worn form of telling a tale, it may find it's way to some sort of meaning in the end... we'll see I suppose.. LOL thanks again, for dropping by... it is always appreciated ma'am |

Amaryllis, thank you ma'am..for looking in. Introspection seems to be a theme for me and whether it is a trip home or an old photograph or simply a passage read somewhere, they can all trigger a look in... hopefully for everyone, the continued series and my scribblings won't bore everyone to tears... I appreciate your dropping in...and the kind words.. |

You're far too kind ...but thank you. We'll see where the road and the story takes us and how many pit stops we have to make along the way then. (chuckling) thanks again... truly, for the kind words. |

This is well penned: __________ The thought had been nagging at me for quite some time And it was hot outside I could see the darker clouds building to the west Then slipping behind the tops of hills with a flash or two long the tops But no distant rumble of thunder to be heard And I wondered if like the thought I'd been mulling around They were all fury and no sound and if they contained any relief Or rain __________ Such a scene is often a prelude to revelation of some sort. |

Lady, many thanks for the eyes... as for the memories, we all have them in some form or the other and they all tie the past to where we are ... again.. thank you for looking in |
