Assemble, Soldiers! Let us not pretend. We have loves, souls and lives to rend! As they march, they resemble corpses. Corpses mounted upon weary horses. Armed with holstered machines of pain. On strained backs, slings their own bane. They begin to doubt the unanimous conviction; They're gripping only lies and fiction. When what was deemed truth, now makes little sense. As bloodshed increases, faces grow tense. With not even the validity of a hearse. The battlegrounds become a curse. As friends fight, fall behind and die. Frequently in need of saying goodbye. With hollow hearts, that long ago diminished. They will trudge on, until they are finished. [This message has been edited by Nocturnal Pulse (08-14-2010 10:08 PM).] |

Stories of war and death and heart, in poetry, become an art. |

With these times being what they are, with loved ones still fighting wars so far away, this speaks to us all. Your poems 1&2 have inspired me to write one too. Kat >^..^< [This message has been edited by katahdin (08-13-2010 12:30 AM).] |

"They begin to doubt the unanimous conviction; They're gripping only lies and fiction. When what was deemed truth, now makes little sense. As bloodshed increases, faces grow tense." I was one of those millions marching all over the world in anti-war protests, not so long ago, twice. How utterly sad that so many see the true face of war only after looking death in the eyes. Peace to you. |
