The Soft Spoken Warrior From the darkness came, The knight without station, A soldier without name. His armor sheaths of revelation, His blade the soothsayer sword. Principle and evenhandedness his guide, The desperate and the despairing his ward. Towards which no injury would he abide. He brought peace to the people of the lands, Through the exertion of his soul, And the work of his hands. All he encountered he did console. Then the high shadow men did come, With iniquitous volition, Towards the warrior of the slum. His down fall was their unqualified ambition, for he committed slight against them. He threatened their station and worth. And so they did condemn, The warrior who dared pacify the earth. The soldier might have destroyed with relieve, If it would not have negated all he had set to achieve. So to his enemies he loved too much to fight, He laid down his armor and made forfeit his might. And in soft spoken voice he pleaded. “Hate me if you need to, but love everyone else. Fight me if you must, if only to make peace with yourself.” From the Desk of Donovan Hi I'm new to this forum but I've been writing poetry since I was 14. So don't be shy let me know what you think. |

A good write and read! Maybe "destroyed with relieve" is a bit awkward, in favor of perhaps "to relieve" or "to believe"? But this is a good read, pertinent to well-intentioned saviors and knight-errants-with-a-heart-of-gold everywhere. It's tough to stay out of harm's way when you take up such worthy causes, at least in today's society and in many of the darker ages past. |

Hello Donovan...welcome to pip. There is something of the warrior in so many, in imagination if not reality. Enjoyed yours. |
