The name is bigger
than the art;
it's nearly always
placed above
a spot
two dots
and one slant nose
with pumpkin grins
of teeth in rows
balanced by
lopsided ears
and usually
there is a home

a square
with two squares
on each side
of a hearth

rectangular

with a path
      that leads to it--

a tree

(sometimes)

the flowers grow
larger than the house

and those?

always boast the sun
with lines

embracing all of it

with shine--

She placed a gold star "A"

and wrote:

"Very, very, very good!!!"

and gave the child a smilie face

for the render of a place

no one had ever known.

This is good. It does remind me of days when artistic blue sky was a mere broad line at the top of the paper---and sometimes the flowers grew "so incredibly high."

What a perfect description of the printing and art work of a child. Being a 35 year first grade teacher, I know this very generic picture well; but each illustration is unique as each child brings to it his/her own experience. You must be a teacher or a mommy. Well written!!!!!!!!!!!

er...that should have been Mrs. Pibbles.

Mrs. Pibbles was a kindergarten teacher that was my mother's creation. When my son started school, his shadow--my daughter was heartbroken that she couldn't go as well.

So Mrs. Pibbles sent lessons to my daughter. Big envelopes with all sorts of lesson books and creative arts materials and projects.

My mother is really something special. Both of my parents had/have a great imagination and I think I get my er. creativity(?) quite naturally from them.

They just don't talk as much. *laughing*

I need to thank my neighbor Cynthia, for the use of her swimming pool which led to my sunburn, which led me to have the discussion when she reminded me that the burn was not the fault of the sun--"methinks it was always there."

And yet again, that one sentence morphed into...this.

Thanks for reading.
