I guess at one time the hat was a very important part of a man's wardrobe. My Dad always wore a hat. Whether he was wearing dress clothes or work clothes he never left the house without his hat. And, yet, I never remember seeing him shop for a hat, buy a hat or receive a hat as a gift. It was always just...there, a part of him. Even his memory wears a hat. Ida Werrett |

How true this. Those fedoras had a long run - and were made to last. Maybe they will come back in style someday. Nowadays it seems more like baseball caps, or Trump rugs... |

Ida, maybe they grew like magic. Like Barthlemew and his Ten Thousand hats (or how ever many he had). I enjoyed, my friend. A |

Yes Ida, They wore hats.I remember snappy felt or wool caps and then the straw toppers most of all. And they all took them off when they entered a building or met a lady passing by or stopping to chat. I have some lovely old photos but I am not good at posting them. Latearrival |

I like how you took an inanimate object and whowed the life that dwells within it. |

That last line is perfect. For me, it's my grandfather. He had his walkin' hat, walkin' shoes, and walkin' stick. That man walked everywhere. I never knew him to own a car. At 93 he even walked himself to the hospital for his final rest. And he always wore a hat when he left the house. Thanks for the memories. Peace. |
