On the eve of her return I wonder, how long she will make me wait if he is watching her a standoff between him and his girlfriend and her and me and just how much does she really care about me it's difficult to say did he ask her to marry him did his attempt to buy her loyalty work he couldn't earn her respect being himself and now he is losing her a trip, a destination, where he was in control, of his own choosing giving her a ring might ensure her loyalty but it sure doesn't ensure his that's the last thing on his mind when he's just trying to keep the fish on the line one fight, one night out with the boys getting drunk getting wasted when a woman's argument has stripped a man of his self confidence what does a cheater do? tries to conquer another woman because he can't conquer his own |

giving her a ring might ensure her loyalty but it sure doesn't ensure his that's the last thing on his mind when he's just trying to keep the fish on the line These words in particular have the ring of hard experience behind them, although the whole work is impressive imho. I guess one can call that the "Henry the 8th Syndrome"---and it's of interest to note that old Harry died from syphilis. |
